Perhaps the heartiest piece of Ötztal culture.

A highlight at our restaurant in Sölden: typical Ötztal Marende

The classic Ötztal Marende is the hearty afternoon snack served throughout Ötztal and also one of the special features of our restaurant in Sölden. According to old customs, the Marende is only available in autumn and winter between 4.00 pm and 5.30 pm. That was exactly the time when the mountain farmers came back to the valley, and still today all the family gets together for a moment of rest and a hearty snack: since ever the Marende has consisted of crusty bread, spicy bacon, smoked sausage or cold cuts and mild cheese. For all those who prefer sweet delights we also have cakes and cookies. In summer, instead of an Ötztal Marende, you can enjoy a fine selection of cakes from 4.30 pm to 5.00 pm.
